Natalia Aandewiel's 'Across the Ocean' is an impressionist seascape that delves into the vigorous spirit of the ocean through its textured strokes and bold color palette. Spanning 36" x 36", the canvas is a symphony of jade green and turquoise hues that evoke the depth and vibrancy of seawater, contrasted sharply with the earthy tones of rocky cliffs. The use of a vivid, almost emerald green for the water channels a sense of life and movement, making the water seem almost lit from beneath, while the rugged textures of white and gray suggest the harsh, unyielding quality of the natural landscape.
This painting encapsulates the dual nature of the oceanic world—both inviting and formidable. The interplay of color and form creates a dynamic scene that feels both ancient and eternal. Aandewiel's technique with the palette knife adds a physical depth to the work, mirroring the emotional depth of the waters it represents. This piece invites the viewer to ponder the timeless journey across the vast, mysterious ocean, encapsulating a sense of awe and the sublime.

"Drought" Low-Horizon Midwest Landscape in Oil on Canvas
Dramatic landscape by Pete James Johnson (American, 20th Century). A wildfire is blowing in from across a valley, casting a grey shadow on the orange and yellow earth. The sun is partially obscured by the smoke. In the foreground, there is a simple fence and a few small shrubs. Just across the grassland, there is a barn with a silo. The artist has stated that he passed by a wildfire in Utah and was worried that the farm would be destroyed by the fire, so he thought it was important to paint the scene.
Initialed and dated "PJJ 15" in the lower left corner.
Signed and titled "Pete James Johnson Drought" on verso.
No frame, but the edges have been painted for a frame-less display.

Gorgeous 19th Century landscape painting of a Scottish loch with fisherman and castle ruins in the style of Alexander Nasmyth (Scottish, 1758 - 1840). This painting features the rough-hewned nature of Scotland's landscape while juxtaposing the peacefulness of a fisherman casting his line into the loch.
