This breathtaking Colorado landscape reflects Davey’s signature blend of realism and emotional depth, revealing his deep connection to the American West. The piece is signed by the artist in the lower left corner, affirming its authenticity and provenance. Housed in a custom wood frame, the artwork’s framed dimensions are 12 ¼ x 14 ¼ x 1 inches, with an image size of 8 ¾ x 10 ¾ inches—perfect for display in a curated art collection or refined interior. About the Artist: Randall Vernon Davey (1887–1964) Randall Davey was a multifaceted American artist known for his work as a painter, muralist, printmaker, sculptor, and educator. Born in East Orange, New Jersey, Davey studied at Cornell University and later trained under Robert Henri and Charles W. Hawthorne at the New York School of Art. Henri’s influence deeply shaped Davey’s expressive, character-driven approach to painting. In 1910, Davey traveled through Europe with Henri and, in 1913, exhibited in the groundbreaking Armory Show, which introduced modern art to American audiences. He was honored early in his career with awards such as the Second Hallgarten Prize from the National Academy of Design and an honorable mention at the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition. Davey’s artistic journey eventually led him west. After a visit to Santa Fe in 1919 with fellow artist John Sloan, he settled there permanently and became a central figure in the region’s flourishing art scene. Over the next four decades, Davey produced a diverse body of work, from New Mexico landscapes and equestrian scenes to portraits and still lifes. His public murals, including commissions for the Will Rogers Memorial Shrine in Colorado Springs, highlight his national significance. Davey also made lasting contributions as an educator, teaching at the Broadmoor Art Academy, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the University of New Mexico. In 1938, he was elected to the National Academy of Design, affirming his standing in American art history. This painting is not only a captivating depiction of Colorado’s natural splendor but also a rare and valuable work from one of America’s early modern masters—a must-have for collectors of Western landscapes and early 20th-century American art.
