About the Item

Artist: Roger König b. Dessau, Germany (1968) Master student of Kurt Schönburg, HWK Halle, Germany. König combines modern painting with acrylic with old techniques and in this way, he connects contemporary art with tradition. The natural clay color bestows the pictures with a completely special dim texture which stands in an exciting contrast with the delicate luster of the acrylic color. The features of the clay color allow a more intensive treatment of the surface. Often, there are lines, scratches or breaks in the surface, as if the canvas had been covered with a fair patina. More subtle strokes in the color bring graphic characters to mind, color gradients natural phenomena, divided canvasses the contrast which is immanent in everything: the principle of yin and yan. Submit Best Offer, all reasonable offers will be considered. Roger König's works are in private collections worldwide. His admirers include leading figures in international business, film and media. Signed front 'Roger König'; signed reverse 'Roger König' This original artwork includes a Certificate of Authenticity . The piece will be stamped from Roger König Art on its verso.

  • Fauve Flamingos: birds in landscape w/ blue water, pink mountains, palm trees
    By Joseph McAleer
    Located in Bryn Mawr, PA
"Fauve Flamingos" is an acrylic on canvas painting depicting birds in a bright, whimsical Fauvist landscape reminiscent of the post-impressionist Henri Matisse. It is signed on the back. Edges are neatly finished and painted, so there is no need for additional framing. Every purchase comes with a free, hardcover copy of the beautiful illustrated new book, "Joseph McAleer: Sixty Years." "Joe McAleer's paintings engage us as participants in a complex perceptual game. Comprised of contrasting patterns of color, texture, and form, which fill the canvas from edge to edge, his restless abstractions elude a fleeting encounter. Rather, they absorb our attention with rhythmic structures and visual anomalies designed to stimulate and perplex our senses. McAleer's kaleidoscopic abstractions have their basis in the humble Modernist's grid,......" - Joe Houston, Author "Optic Nerve, Perceptual Art of the 1960s"; Curator, Hallmark Art Collection. McAleer is an artist and lifelong educator based in NJ. He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Rowan University, and has exhibited his work up and down the east coast, including major solo exhibitions at Bridgette Mayer Gallery and Locks Gallery...
