About the Item

I’ve always been attracted to the built environment. Bridges are a great subject. Each one is specially engineered to solve the problem of how to get across the void. While usually not designed to be beautiful, I find beauty in the patterns and rhythm of the structural elements. I like dynamic compositions. I usually take 20 to 30 photographs to find one that I like. Then I paint it as realistically as possible. I call my approach “abstract realism”. Double Overtime Shift, Urban Industrial Landscape, Contemporary Realist Painting
By Art Chartow
Located in Chicago, IL
The factories of Art Chartow's "Double Overtime Shift" represent strength, industrial might, and the ability to vanquish nature. This place is strange, sinister and forbidding yet at the same time beautiful and fragile. The artist's uses paint to express the power of light at this particular time of day. The winter sun has cast it's light onto the cold metal silos to bring some hope of warmth - as seen on the melting snow covered road. This contemporary realist painting is framed in a simple black wooden frame measuring 23.25h x 45.25w inches. Arthur Chartow Double Overtime Shift oil on canvas 22h x 44w in 55.88h x 111.76w cm ACH014 Arthur Chartow b. 1951, New York, NY Education 1972-74 M.F.A, Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, MI 1968-72 B.F.A, Carnegie – Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA. I Know Everything - Birds Eye View of Chicago Looking East, Oil & Acrylic
By Albert Vidal Moreno
Located in Chicago, IL
While visiting Chicago in the summer of 2019, Vidal was afforded a stunning view of the city from various vantage points. This bird's eye view is looking east into the city with a peak of Lake Michigan in the background and captures a portion of Chicago's iconic skyline. The loose, abstract brush strokes and warm color palette come together in this remarkable urban landscape painting. The bottom of the painting is marked with Vidal's signature - a series of numbers. The artist has carried the painting over the edges, thus allowing it to remain unframed. Alternate framing options can be discussed with the gallery. 59th Street Bridge, original realist New York City landscape
By Michael Davis
Located in Spring Lake, NJ
A veritable life line for New York City that connects the boroughs of Manhattan to Queens, NYC artist Michael Davis painted this original landscape in a realist style to ensure capturing the might and splendor that such an architectural and engineering achievement represents to civilization and certainly to New York. A colorist, Davis seeks simplicity of expression, with clean lines paired with love of his subject matter balanced with aquamarine skies and sapphire blue water. His addition of sky scrapers in the background adds scale and dimension. Davis earned his BFA from Pratt Institute of NYC where he is a life member of the famed Art Students League. Davis' work has shown in the Grand Central Gallery, the National Academy of Design, the Salmagundi Club and the National Arts Club among others. This original oil painting is shown in a champagne silver plein air frame...
