In "A Misty Evening," Shazia Imran captures the serene beauty of a rain-soaked London, transforming the iconic Big Ben and its surroundings into a poetic scene of atmospheric charm. The painting, executed in oil on canvas, conveys a dreamlike mist enveloping a bustling cityscape, where the glow of streetlights merges with reflections on the rain-slick pavement. Imran’s delicate brushwork imbues the city with a soft luminescence, contrasting the vivid reds of a double-decker bus and figures' umbrellas with the muted, ethereal blues and greys of the evening.
The artist’s skilled interplay of light and shadow creates a symphony of movement and stillness. The figures, painted with impressionistic anonymity, evoke a sense of shared solitude as they navigate the reflective streets. Their posture and movement speak to the contemplative mood of an urban setting transformed by rain. The soft blur of surrounding architecture, seen through the atmospheric mist, creates a sense of timelessness, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the tranquil beauty of the moment.
Imran’s work masterfully balances realism with abstraction, making this piece universally relatable yet deeply personal. It is a testament to the artist’s ability to find harmony in urban chaos, creating a contemplative pause amidst the vibrancy of city life. This original artwork is a captivating addition to any collection, inviting its audience to experience London’s ever-changing beauty through a fresh, emotive lens. “Art and design is something I’m very passionate about. Use of colour, shape, texture and light defines my style in capturing the personality and emotions of the subject.
My inspiration and influence comes from everything I see, feel and experience around me. The delicately multilayered paintings I create, explore the connections between landscape, memory and the subconscious through texture and the interplay of light and dark, creating an atmosphere that opens itself up to multiple meanings.
My recent body of work is based on the mandala – representing the wholeness and unity of mankind. Representing the universe itself, the mandala is both microcosm and macrocosm and we all are part of it. No matter what region, race or religion we belong to, we are all same we are all humans.”- Shazia Imran
