About the Item
Susanne Purviance wurde 1954 in Linz geboren. Sie absolvierte ein künstlerisches Studium zwischen 1974 und 1979 an der Hochschule für künstlerische und industrielle Gestaltung in Linz in der Meisterklasse für Schrift- und Buchgestaltung. Nach erfolgreichem Abschluss unternahm sie Studienreisen nach Italien, Spanien, Frankreich und Griechenland. Susanne Purviance hatte zahlreiche Ausstellungen und Ausstellungsbeteiligungen im In- und Ausland. Ihre Werke befinden sich in zahlreichen öffentlichen und privaten Sammlungen.
Susanne Purviance ist eine farbige Malerin. In jeder Hinsicht. Auf ihren Bildern gibt es knallrote Autos vor knallgrünen Tankstellen, Farbenfluten, beispielsweise auf den Marktbildern, die unseren Linzer Südbahnhof in einen üppigen Bazar verwandeln. Sie drücken, sowie das grelle Licht, die bunten weißen Wände, die prallen Landschaften eine Lebenslust aus, die im Zusammenhang mit dem dargestellten Sujet auch immer den Lebenskampf beinhaltet. Stories. Susanne Purviance hat –vor langer Zeit – auf der Linzer Kunstuni Buchgestaltung studiert. Sie zeigt mir ihre Diplomarbeiten: Rimbaud und Kaschnitz. Von Hand geschrieben und illustriert. Auf handgeschöpftem japanischen Papier. Selbst gebunden. Unikate von unglaublicher Präzision und Eindringlichkeit. Ich würde mir wünschen, ein Grafikverlag würde diese beiden Bücher nachdrucken. Auf handgeschöpftem japanischen Papier natürlich. Vielleicht hat ja da begonnen, was heute vorläufig in dieser Ausstellung endet, die „Stories“ heißt.
