Sylvia Paul
Sylvia Paul’s oil paintings are worked using a knife in a free and expressive style. For her landscapes, she uses small pastel sketches done in the field, as her reference in the studio. The oils are painted on MDF board and framed with a contemporary stone white color frame. Landscape and still life are familiar subjects, but after visiting Japan Sylvia’s collages, in particular, are more abstract in style, and her memories are often her inspiration. Sylvia Paul studied painting at Colchester School of Art and Hockerill College of Education. The artist regularly exhibits in Japan and The Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions, UK. Other major exhibitions include The Pastel Society, The Royal Institute of Oil Painters, The Laing Landscape Exhibition and The Royal Institute of Water Colour Artists.
