Large 17th Century Battle scene of a cavalry charge during the Anglo-Dutch Wars, oil on canvas. Panoramic scene of the battlefield as a general sounds the bugle as the cavalry prepare to charge. The work is typical of Palamedesz battle scene during the 17th Century. Despite dying at the age of 33 Palamedesz left behind a large body of work centre around the recurrent Dutch conflict with the English in scenes of cavalry advances, skirmishes and encampments. Presented in its original antique gilt spindle edge frame with leaf cornered detail. Unsigned
