{Dutch Landscape with Windmill}

Oil on Masonite of a Dutch canal scene. Two barges float by a windmill and cottages; in the background, two more windmills are faintly visible. Painting is signed lower left but is illegible. Oil on board measures 10 x 12 3/4. Board is housed in a nineteenth-century Louis XV style gilt and gesso frame. This frame features an elaborate undulating design of scrolling foliage and flower motifs punctuating the corners and centers of each side; the interior lining features a running low-relief acanthus pattern, and a simple beaded pattern runs along the outer edge. A label from Marty Scherer Fine Paintings is attached to the verso. Frame measures 18 1/4 x 21 1/4 x 2 3/8.
