Playful in technique, Yuriy Ushakov's work pulsates with life. Strong passages of paint are applied to the canvas with exceptionally gestural brushwork invoking the unexpectedness of Nicolai Fechin and even connecting with the Abstract Expressionist tradition.

Yuriy was born in 1992 to a family of artists and has undergone an impressive 11-year training to become a professional artist. In 2020, he graduated from the prestigious Imperial Academy of Arts in St.Petersburg, Russia, a renowned art institution that maintains pre-revolutionary aristocratic art traditions. Since then Yuriy has successfully exhibited in the United Kingdom and in the United States and his works are collected worldwide. He is currently represented by our gallery The Russian Ark.
