About the Item
Oskar Fishinger (1900-1967), began his career in Germany as one of the pioneers of the Germans avant garde abstract film movement, known for inventing abstract musical animations, and what was often reffered to as, Optical Poetry. He arrived in Hollywood in 1936 where he worked in film until 1947, before turning his attention exclusively to his abstract painting.
Time Travel #2, one of a pair of two Fishinger paintings, is a bright, vibrant work that displays an almost kinetic energy and feeling of movement, an original oil on panel, signed and dated 1949.
