About the Item
Pencil self-portrait of Conrad Buff. This a part of a small selection of unique oil abstract paintings by a well-recognized and talented artist. Conrad Buff is less known for this body of work, which he began painting late in his life in 1960’s to 1970’s. Signed C. Buff at bottom right. Undated. Each is stamped with official estate signature

Conrad Buff was born in 1886 in Switzerland and was known from an early age to be a gifted artist. He briefly enrolled in private art school in Munich and soon after made his way to the United States. Los Angeles was his home, but he spent much of his life painting mountains, the desert…the Southwest: Utah, New Mexico and Nevada.
