About the Item
This Mid-Century illustration/painting is rendered in a Neo-Classical style and showcases young lovers in a morning embrace. The man is holding a small bouquet as the woman leans into him. A soft breeze blows her orange hair while the wind carries leaves airborne. A sailboat is seen in the distance with a smooth early morning sun rising among seagulls.
It is elegantly framed with a deep archival mat behind glass. The painting is more significant than it appears in pictures. It was published in Playboy Magazine in September 1958.
Framed to 30.25 x 28.75
Eugene Karlin's art has been exhibited at Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Corcoran Gallery, the San Francisco Museum, and New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Karlin taught at The School of Visual Arts, Pratt Institute, Cooper Union, and Parsons School of Design. Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. His illustration/assignment art has appeared in Forture, Esquire, New Republic, Town & Country, Seventeen and Sports Illustration among others.
