Trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse, Abadie only really began his career as a painter in the 1960s. French, the Grand Prix in 1988 and that same year he was the guest of honor at the Biennale Internationale de Québec. Jean Abadie's landscapes are punctuated by the superposition of planes and colored by the tonality of the seasons. The play of light is multiplied to pleasure, presenting man and nature in perfect harmony. The cubist construction and the colors used are reminiscent of his Périgord elder Jean Cluseau-Lanauve.
Although imprecise, the title given by the artist to our work gives us the main information: Périgord. The architecture of the imposing house with the tower located in the background just like the house on the left seems to make us prefer the Périgord noir. The gray and sloping roofs recall the lauses of this area of the department. The scene represented is not common in Périgord compositions. These two women discuss on a bench at the end of their market, the baskets filled with food.

Jean Abadie
Jean Abadie was a French painter of rural life and pastoral landscapes. Best known for his figurative paintings depicting Realist themes of farm and working-class French life, Abadie's work is noted for his stylized and proto-Cubist depiction of light.
Abadie's palette often features warm yellows and orange crepuscular rays, intersecting and interrupting his compositions. Born in Tarbes, in the Midi-Pyrénées region of southwestern France in 1921, he spent his early life in the military. Abadie took up painting in the late 1940s partly as a Humanist response to his service, and would continue on to produce works until his death in 2010.
