ARTIST EXPLANATION OF THE PAINTINGS:
Queen Elizabeth 2 30”x40” x 1.5" oil on birch panel . Ready to hang with wire on the back
They are blurred. So I paint them with a regular brush, let the paint get partially dry, and then I use a brush to go over it many times to blur the paint.
Sometime if it gets too blurred I go back in and do some more painting to define an area, and then use a big special brush to blur the image again. The last image is the painting is shown on a mantle. Queen Elizabeth 2 has a birch side 1.5" so there is no need for a frame. There is also a smaller image of the painting of Queen Elizabeth 2 on 1stdibs for sale by the gallery.
Queen Elizabeth II became queen of the United Kingdom on February 6, 1952, at age 25 and was crowned on June 2, 1953. She was the mother of Prince Charles, who ascended to the throne after her death, as well as the grandmother of Princes William and Harry. As the longest-serving monarch in British history, she tried to make her reign more modern and sensitive to a changing public while maintaining traditions associated with the crown.
For much of her life, the queen surrounded herself with dogs. She was especially known for her love of corgis, owning more than 30 descendants of the first corgi she received as a teenager, until the death of the final one, Willow, in 2018. Elizabeth was also a horse enthusiast who bred thoroughbreds and attended racing events for many years. Not one for the spotlight, Elizabeth liked quiet pastimes. She enjoyed reading mysteries, working on crossword puzzles, and reportedly, even watching wrestling on television.
Elizabeth died on September 8, 2022, at age 96.
