Shaul Victor, (1947-2016), Russian American Israeli artist, paints vivid Judaica/Israel scenes and portraits.
Shaul Victor, painter. Born in Russia in 1947, immigrated to Israel in the early 70's and lived in Safed. He became Orthodox religious.
Shaul Victor graduated from the Academy of Art in Kiev, where he studied between 1967-1973. Immigrated to Israel from the USSR with his wife and children in 1973 after having conflicts and difficulties with the Soviet authorities.
He was accepted as a member to the Israel Painters and Sculptors Association and received a studio and a small gallery in the Artists' Colony in Safed, where he worked for many years. He became a prominent painter among the artists of Safed and received great respect and favorable reviews in the leading Israeli newspapers.
He was also chosen to appear on the Israeli TV (the only channel in the 1980s) about art in Safed.

The painter Elie Shamir was born in 1953 in the village Kfar Yehoshua, studied at Bezalel, and participated in many exhibitions in Israel and abroad. This exhibition centers on Shamir’s work dealing with his birthplace. After years spent in Jerusalem and Boston, Shamir returned to the village in 1999 and resettled there, as the third generation of the place’s founders.
The issue of place is present with great force and complexity in Shamir’s work; aspects of this issue pertain, among others, to that tangled knot which is tied and unraveled throughout the generations between the Jew and the land, between the immigrant and the native-born, between the local Arab and the Hebrew pioneer and his vision, between the farmer and his field. The clumps of earth in Shamir’s paintings are placed on geological strata charged with biblical past, with primeval culture, with Zionist history, with socio-economic ideology, with artistic tradition but also with his own personal family story. Cartoonist linked to Editorial Bruguera and its agency Creaciones Editoriales. She got her start drawing girls' or adventure comics in Stories and the Sissi Graphic Novel Supplement. Much of her work from the 1960s was aimed at the European market for young women's magazines through the Selecciones Ilustradas agency. Anecdotally, he collaborated with Marvel Comics, drawing a romantic comic based on a script by Stan Lee for the title My Love (later republished in Our Love Story), credited there as Enrique Monserratt.
