The Condition is fair. work has been slightly over-cleaned. A heavy layer of glossy varnish. The surface of the canvas is undulated and most apparent from extreme side view . Yet in person, the work is just "Lovely" from frontal view Exquisitely beautiful to look at with an old elegant frame.

William Etty
William Etty, a student of Thomas Lawrence, R.A., was the first significant British painter of nudes. Most of his models, would have been guardsmen, posing to supplement their modest income.
