Stamped verso with certification of authenticity and painted circa 1955.
Virginia Sevier Rogers studied with Hugh Breckenridge at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts (1934) and earned her M.A. at UC Berkeley. A member of the Society of Western Artists, she lived and taught art on her farm in Carmel Valley for over forty years and exhibited regularly at the Carmel Art Association.

About the Artist
Virginia Sevier Rogers
Virginia Sevier Rogers studied with Hugh Breckenridge at the PAFA in 1934 and then earned a BA degree from the University of North Carolina and her MA at UC Berkeley. From the early 1940s, she was the wife of a naval officer and living in Shanghai and other places. Rogers returned to Berkeley in 1950 and had an active art career. In 1971, she moved to the Monterey Peninsula and purchased a farm on Carmel Valley Road. At her studio, Rogers taught small classes and produced paintings, batik, pottery, sculpture and a line of note cards on handmade paper.
