The Devil’s Bride

c. 1970

About the Item

Measurements Painting 59.25 x 47.75 inches Framed 64.25 c 52.375 inches The painting is a depiction of the August 1970 US Comics comic book cover featuring Superman, Lois Lane, and other characters in a demonic setting. It is reminiscent of Silver Age DC Comics, known for its wild and imaginative storylines. Lois Lane is depicted as a demon marrying another demonic figure while Superman looks on in shock, and is reminiscent of the story "The Devil and Lois Lane!" This large and impressive painting pays homage to this classic cover, and showcases the lasting impact of these iconic comic book moments. This meticulous painting is carefully framed in a box of black and clear plexiglass, and is in fine condition. Rajah Satdev proves not to be the Devil, but an alien in love with Lois. Lois has not been killed, and she returns to Satdev's world of Nferino to marry him. But Lois's realization that Superman loves her (thanks to her seeing an inscription he made on a ring he gave her when he thought her dead) makes her cancel the wedding. Satdev removes her horns, hooves, and tail, and sends her back to Earth.
