Anne Noggle (1922 - 2005) was a former World War II military pilot, who in her forties started her career as a photographer and is known for her b&w self-portraits and portraits of older women. Her work challenges the stereotypical portrayal of women and the female body, and deals with the aging process, identity and self-presentation. Noggle studied art history at the University of New Mexico, where she also worked as an adjunct professor of art from 1970 to 1984. In the 1970s she was also a Curator of Photography at the New Mexico Museum of Art. Her photographic work received many awards and grants and today is held in the collections of several art museums.
