Artist stamp in blue ink and misc. notation in pencil on print verso Vintage gelatin silver print Karl Struss was an American photographer and cinematographer born 1886, in New York. He studied photography at Columbian University under the guidance of Clarence White. Through his studies on photograph, Struss developed the Struss Pictorial Lens, a soft-focus lens popular with the pictorial photographers and the motion picture industry of the time.
