About the Item

Edward BURTYNSKY (*1955, Canada) Saw Mills #3, Log Booms, Lagos, Nigeria, 2016 Pigment inkjet print on Kodak Professional Photo Paper Sheet: 148.4 x 198.4 cm (58 1/2 x 78 in.) Edition of 3; Ed. no. 3/3 (last available edition in large) Edward Burtynsky is regarded as one of the world’s most accomplished contemporary photographers. The predominant theme in his work is nature transformed through industry and he has documented some of the most poignant examples of this around the world. Burtynsky works on each project for several years before it is released. Major projects include Quarries, Oil, Water and Anthropocene. Edward Burtynsky was born in St. Catharines, Ontario in 1955 and is based in Toronto. His photographs are included in the collections of over sixty major museums around the world, including the National Gallery of Canada; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Reina Sofia Museum, Madrid; the Tate Modern, London and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, California. Exhibitions include Anthropocene (2018) at the Art Gallery of Ontario and the National Gallery of Canada (international touring exhibition); Water (2013) at the New Orleans Museum of Art & Contemporary Art Center, New Orleans, (international touring exhibition) and Oil (2009) at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. (touring 2009-2014). Awards and distinctions include the TED Prize, the Governor Gernal’s Award in Visual Media Arts, The Outreach award at the Rencontres d’Arles, and the Roloff Beny Book award. – Photography, Contemporary, Landscape, Colour, Industrial, Nature, Structure, Large Format, Anthropocene art

Sarakiniko No.3 Milos (Limited Edition of 25) - The Sea Photography
By Christopher Petsos
Located in New York, NY
This image captured in 2017 by New York photographer Christopher Petsos features the Sarakiniko beach in Milos, Greece, one of the most beautiful “moonscape” beaches in the world. This beach is known for being the most photographed attraction in the Aegean Sea. Due to its picturesque beauty, it's become an Instagram darling. Christopher Petsos is a New York City based photographer and artist. He is known for capturing Light, pattern, texture, color and motion across the urban realm. Petsos believes that we see things through a filter of the self, a camera records the physical details of a scene, but our human eyes and sub-conscious self, are the interpreters that complete our view of reality. In his own words: “Throughout the process, I stay faithful to the underlying truth of the scene. My work inhabits the space between literal depiction and my emotional Impression of the moment. The result is hyper-reality: facts imbued with feeling.” In this image, Christopher Petsos stands true to his words and brilliantly captures the light, pattern, texture, color and motion across the urban realm and painted it in his own colors to give the viewer a new perspective.
