Tyler Shields is a photographer, film director, and writer, best known for his images of Hollywood celebrities. Known for his controversial and volatile and off-handed images, representative of his trademark edgy, and often risqué, a style which frequently draws criticism. his photographs capture much of the most over-the-top, brutal aspects of contemporary celebrity culture he has become a creative tour de force in the photography and film industries.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, and now recognized as “Hollywood’s favorite photographer”, contemporary artist and filmmaker Tyler Shields’ evolution from the “bad boy of photography” with his controversial blood-stained photographic series featuring Lindsay Lohan to the more subtle color-explosive poesy of his Chromatic series, and his work featuring Francesca Eastwood (Clint’s daughter) to the fire-starting bag-sawing antics of a $100,000 Hermes Birkin Bag, to the stoic magic surrealism of Suspense, a project shot in the New Mexico desert featuring Francesca Eastwood, Emma Roberts, and Lydia Hearst, Mr. Shield’s art captures the emergence of an artist and his medium into a more mature overture and output. Daring and suggestive, Shields’ photographs push the envelope to create a thought-provoking experience for each viewer. His work contains its own unique dialogue, with subjects ranging from historical figures to representations of modern materialism. Shields’ list of celebrity subjects makes his photography notably eye-catching.
Tyler Shields’ work moves through the complexes and layers of the “celebrity” sphere, into an inherently tangible vision of the portrait in the 21st-century. The past year has been especially impressive for Shields, as he collaborated on a limited-edition merchandise collection with Urban Outfitters, created an evocative documentary with YouTube Red, and many of his photographs have been auctioned off at Sotheby’s.

Born in 1982, Shields’ work derives from a unique history directing music videos and working with the legendary skateboarding icon Tony Hawk. Mr. Shields has produced images that play with notions of the gaze, power structures, hyper-realism, iconoclastic tendencies and cinematographic practice. He has worked with a roster of ranking members of Hollywood including Mischa Barton, Emma Roberts, Aaron Paul, Demi Lovato, Juno Temple, Shiloh Fernandez and more. Tyler’s output involves various mediums from book publishing The Dirty Side of Glamour in 2011, to a novel entitled Smartest Man, and a cluster of solo shows.

Antoine Rose’s love for the sea led him to become official photographer of the Kitesurfing World Cup in 2002 for several consecutive years. Rose admits, “Shooting from helicopters, all doors removed, 300 feet above earth at 20 knots and getting images that can be printed as large as 120 inches is quite a challenge. What’s difficult is to mix all the tasks in real time: guiding the pilot, having the right lens, being sure the camera settings are setup properly, concentrating on the light, the subject, the framing, discussing with the tower control to get clearance…” Rose continued to travel around the globe from South Africa to Istanbul, converting ordinary scenes into magnificent pieces of art – whether they be the shorelines of Miami and Hampton Beach “Up in the Air” or the mountaintops of Switzerland “Jeux D’Hiver”. In Rose’s most recent collection “Dawn to Dusk,” illuminated cityscapes of the Manhattan skyline are captured beneath darkness. Thus, oblige viewers to a closer look, distinguishing the artist’s pictorial subject from its aerial veneer; brilliant skyscrapers manifest embellished microchips against an unlit backdrop.
