About the Item
City road workers inadvertently become modern-day Steet Artists. Mitchell Funk in a continuing series, captures the colorful diagram mark-ups that city road crews use to plot out their work. Funk's trained eye transforms these utilitarian street diagrams of dots and dashes into artful images. The woman with the purple umbrella perfectly compliments the composition. The top angle looking down showcases and frames the red and yellow street marks in a way that is similar to looking at a large minimalist canvas.

Mitchell Funk
Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
