Eric Kellerman created this sensual nude photograph of a young nude woman with a large zinc vessel under her arm. It is pencil signed, titled and numbered 1 from an edition of 20. The photographer has stamped a red monogram next to his signature.
Eric Kellerman is a Briton who has lived near Nijmegen in the Netherlands for just over half his life. In 2008, he retired from academic life to spend more time on photography.
Kellerman works almost entirely in the studio and uses digital equipment from camera to print, although image manipulation is limited to darkroom-like processes. Specializing in the nude, he has a regular team of female collaborators, most of whom have a serious interest in movement (dance, drama therapy, athletics, martial arts).
Kellerman used to consider his work to be distant, abstract, melancholic, ‘unerotic’, despite its subject matter. Now he's not so sure. He emphasizes line, geometrical form, texture, implicit movement, and above all, chiaroscuro. He likes to create ambiguity in his photos, so that the viewer is sometimes unsure what part of the body is being looked at. In this way, he attempts to free the female body of its conventional associations.
He has been influenced by surrealism...

Bathers enjoy the sun by the pool at the Hôtel du Cap Eden-Roc, Antibes, France, 1976. Aarons' iconic photograph depicts the legendary hotel made famous by Fitzgerald's Tender is the Night, the sun-kissed home away from home for titans of literature and music (Cole Porter, Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Stefan Zweig, Noël Coward), film (Marlene Dietrich, Alain Delon, Elizabeth Taylor, who brought all of her husbands there, and every Hollywood A-lister in town for Cannes), art (Chagall, Picasso, Matisse), music (John and Yoko, Jane and Serge, Ella Fitzgerald), politics (Churchill, De Gaulle, the Kennedys), and high society (the Duke of Windsor and Wallis Simpson). This famous image of vintage glamour captures the contrast between the jewel blue of the ocean and the turquoise of the pool, set off by monumental rocks in the foreground and mountains in the distance: the fluid undulation between the natural and the architectural. Sunbathing was popularized at this European destination; here, bathers enjoy a holiday in briefs, bikinis and topless styles. Numbered and stamped by the Slim Aarons Estate. Over the course of a career lasting half a century, Slim Aarons (1916-2006) portrayed high society, aristocracy, authors, artists, business icons, the celebrated and their milieu. In doing so, he captured a golden age of wealth, privilege, beauty and leisure that occurred alongside—but quite separate from—the cultural and political backdrop of the second half of the Twentieth Century.
The Slim Aarons Estate has released the limited Estate edition as a Lambda print, which is a modern c-type prints. They have chosen Lambda prints for their sharpness, clarity, colour saturation and quality, compared to archival inkjet prints. Lambda printing gives true continuous tone.

Antibes is a resort town between Cannes and Nice on the French Riviera (Côte d’Azur). It’s known for its old town enclosed by 16th-century ramparts with the star-shaped Fort Carré. This overlooks luxury yachts moored at the Port Vauban marina. The forested Cap d’Antibes peninsula, dotted with grand villas, separates Antibes from Juan-les-Pins, a chic resort with buzzing nightlife and the Jazz à Juan music festival.
Increasingly known for his influence, Aarons's casually glamorous jetset aesthetic can be seen today in fashion, art, and celebrity photography. He's also been credited with inspiring the sun-soaked, escapist style of top Instagram influencers.
