Elizabeth Taylor Black Suit, Hand to Lapel -- Mark Shaw photographed Elizabeth Taylor for the October 15, 1956 cover of LIFE magazine. Taylor was starring in the academy award winning film, Giant, as Leslie Benedict, the matriarch of a Texas ranching family. The film also starred Rock Hudson and James Dean. Elizabeth Taylor is number seven on the American Film Institute’s list of top 25 female legends. Image size is 40" x 50" (for 44" x 54" paper size). All Mark Shaw prints are made to order in limited editions on Hahnemuhle photo rag paper. Each print is Estate stamped on the back and signed and numbered by David Shaw, and accompanied by a letter of authenticity. Elizabeth Taylor in Yellow with Ivy, Side 3 -- Mark Shaw was sent by LIFE to photograph Elizabeth Taylor for the April 28, 1961 issue. The images he took were never used for the article that celebrated her acceptance of the Oscar for best actress of 1960 for her role as a semi-pro call girl in the movie Butterfield 8. Shaw’s stunning portraits show Taylor in her Oscar ceremony finery, a dress called “Soiree a Rio” from Dior’s Spring-Summer 1961 Haute Couture collection. Image size is 22" x 22" (for 24" x 36" paper size). All Mark Shaw prints are made to order in limited editions on Hahnemuhle photo rag paper.
