Marielle Guégan is a French painter and engraver. During her studies as an interior designer, she became passionate about drawing and color theory, specifically color's different impacts on organics forms. From the beginning, her work is oriented towards the abstract and opens to recurring themes of strength and time.
In her latest canvases, the forms are like snapshots capturing dense or light vibrations. Using the relationship between shine and dullness, the power of reliefs and flat areas, optional colors and creative blacks, these pictorial rhymes express themselves.
Later, she studied in the Atelier of engraving at the F. Denon workshop (Atelier Beaux-Arts in the city of Paris) for four years. After this, engraving became a technique commonly used in her work. The constant use of black in Guégan's paintings and engravings corresponds to the desire to remove the superficial. Her artistic approach is directed towards the universality of the sign to arouse an inner meeting of the spectator.
Guégan was born in 1966 in Nevers. She lives and works in Paris. Several of her pieces have gone on sale in Paris and she has collectors in Europe, Morocco and the United States. Featured often in the press her latest publications include a feature in AD Architectural Digest (January 2011) and the cover of the Christmas catalog Le Notre Christmas 2010.
