The lithograph, derived from a detail of Marc Chagall's preparatory study for his 1937 painting "The Revolution," is infused with his childhood memories, religious themes, and reflections on the Russian Revolution. Published by Painters as Witnesses of Their Time, Paris, it is listed as reference number 92 in “Chagall's Posters - A Catalogue Raisonné” by Sorlier.
