About the Item
Signed lower center, 'Miharu Lane' (Japanese-American, born 1948), titled, 'Happy Tidings' and with number and limitation, '193/350'. Paper dimensions: 19 x 24 inches.
Miharu Lane first attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond followed by the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD. She subsequently studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, California where she received her BA in fine arts in 1991. In 1996, she was awarded her MFA from Marywood University.
Lane first gained recognition for her involvement in the International Women’s Art Festival Slide Exhibition in 1975. The festival traveled to the Ford Foundation Auditorium, New York, N.Y.; the Whitaker Center of Science and the Arts, Harrisburg, Pa. and to many public institutions of higher education in the Mid-Atlantic Region. She became known nationally and internationally for her limited edition lithographs which were produced for both the Collector’s Guild and the New York Graphics Society.
Miharu Lane has exhibited widely and with success including at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Brooklyn, N.Y.; the Synagogue for the Arts, Tribeca, N.Y.; the Snug Harbor Cultural Center, Staten Island, N.Y.; the Allentown Art Museum, Allentown, Pa.; the Middleton Gallery, Annapolis, Md.; the Antoine Dutot Museum and Gallery, among others. Miharu Lane is currently Professor Emerita of Art at East Stroudsburg University. Miharu Lane continues to paint professionally, both in her studio and au plein air.
