" This painter, illustrator, muralist, lithographer, author and poet first studied at the Kansas City Art Institute before attending the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts and the Art Students League in New York. Nura Woodson then studied under John French Sloan and, later, with Frederic Gruger. She subsequently moved to Paris where she lived and painted for several years and where she met and married her husband, the Hungarian-American artist Buk Ulreich. While in France, she exhibited with success, including at the Salon d'Automne, and began to paint under the brush name, 'Nura'. After returning to the United States, Ulreich continued to exhibit widely, including at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Corcoran Galleries Biennials (1928-39), the Salons of America, the Society of Independent Artists (1928, 1941) and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (1929-1931). Henry Ford and Ford Motor Company revolutionized the automobile market again in 1932 by introducing the company's V-8 engine. By casting the engine's block as a single piece, Ford decreased manufacturing costs and made the engine affordable to consumers. The venerable engine remained in production until 1953. Other automobile companies had used V-8 cylinder engines for their heavy, expensive vehicles. But Henry Ford wanted a V-8 engine light enough and cheap enough to power an inexpensive car like a Ford. After years of work, the engine was introduced in 1932. The world's first low-priced, cast-in-one-piece V-8 engine. A runner on top of the car was placed to show that this new car had speed even though the car could outrun a person on foot. Color was an essential tool in advertising when posters were an essential source for name-brand recognition. The absence of color gives these auto posters a touch of class. They can also be compared to old photographs. Either way, you're looking at something special. This one is incredibly cool since it came from the talented artist Rene Vincent. If his name doesn't ring a bell, his poster "Porto Ramos" probably will if you look it up on our site. You will find that he also created automobile posters as early as 1905, which are all extremely rare and hard to find. Don’t let this excellent-condition vintage poster pass you by. Vincent only got to devote a little time to posters once he was in his forties, after working for many years in various publications--mainly humor and fashion magazines--and in decorative design.
