There was no World War Two activity to which the population could not be encouraged by the use of a poster.First established in 1935 the Civil Defence Department was essential for maintaining order during air raids. Here a glamorous young lady – presumably unable to join the army – is volunteering to ‘do her bit’ by driving an ambulance.
