About the Item

Helmut Sundhaussen Title: Abstract Geometric Composition Medium: Color silkscreen Year: 1972 Signed, numbered and dated by hand Edition: XL Size: 18.7 × 18.7 on 21.8 × 21.8 inches COA provided Helmut Sundhaußen (born September 21, 1935, in Dusseldorf ) is a German painter, sculptor and graphic artist and representative of the concrete art. In addition, he also occasionally put his artistic focus on photographs. From 1957 to 1962, Helmut Sundhaußen studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Bruno Goller, whose master student he became. The Villa Romana Prize allowed him a nine-month stay in Florence. 1967-1968 he taught for a year as a visiting lecturer at the Werkkunstschule Krefeld. This was followed in 1970 by a scholarship for a one-year stay at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris. Thereafter, in 1971, Sundhaußen became a lecturer in painting at the Folkwang University and later in the Department of Design and Art Education at the University of Essen. Since 1973 he leads the title of professor. Sundhaußen experimented with photographic works in the 1980s. It still created concrete works. He is a member of the Siam Society Bangkok and the German Society for Nature and Ethnology of East Asia (OAG) in Tokyo, as well as the West German Artists' Association. He works regularly in Thailand and Japan, as well as Brazil and the USA. He also traveled to Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Tibet, Italy and Spain. Helmut Sundhaußen has been shown in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad. Sundhaußen lives and works in Dusseldorf and Tokyo.
