About the Item
Original Spokane (Washington), The Colorful Capital of the Inland Empire vintage travel fun map. Printed in 1971, this seldom if ever found original map is archival linen backed and ready to frame. In A- condition with a three-inch repaired tear in the bottom border. No paper loos and still vibrant colors.
The map contains an array of buildings and locations around Spokane. However, I won’t use it for directions because you would end up getting lost on one side or the other of the Spokane River. This original poster was created three years before the 1974 World’s Fair. Spokane is also known for having the most waterfalls in a city.
The history of Spokane, Washington, in the northwestern United States, developed because Spokane Falls and its surroundings have been a gathering place for numerous cultures for thousands of years. The area's indigenous people settled there due to the fertile hunting grounds and abundance of salmon in the Spokane River.
With the arrival of railroads and additions to the city's railroad infrastructure, Spokane became the commercial center of the Inland Northwest and an important rail and shipping center due to its location between the Rocky Mountains and the Cascade Range.
