Another of my favourite London landmarks and location of A River Runs Through It, our annual London-inspired group show at the Oxo Gallery. The building dates back to the 1920’s when it was home to the famous Oxo company for many years. Its trademark O-X-O logo was apparently built into the design to get around the strict advertising laws at the time. Genius. This piece is created from an original photograph and printed on a slim sheet of brushed aluminium which brings out the vivid pink, contrasting with the stark grey concrete. The OXO Tower is made to order.
Michael has spent more than twenty years in the media industry working on entertainment programmes, talk shows, documentaries, animations and a children’s novel. But creating original and innovative art is his true passion. His latest work celebrates the beauty of the city through the shapes, outlines and colours that define its character. London, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore, Miami, Paris and Dubai all feature in Michael’s portfolio. The art is created by digitally manipulating and colouring his own photographs to produce unusual prints on aluminium, reclaimed wood, brass, even 1930’s copper-lite windows. He also creates neon, magnetic, and L.E.D installations. The metal pieces are printed on very thin sheets of brushed aluminium, giving the work an etched appearance. Michael works out of his studio at Wimbledon Art Studios in South London. Recent exhibitions include The Affordable Art Fair (Battersea, Hampstead, Singapore, New York, Milan), The Other Art Fair, and The Open Studios Show at Wimbledon Art Studios, amongst others.
