Substantially framed contemporary limited edition giclée print on canvas of a beautiful plein air impressionist landscape painting by California artist Donald R. Britton (American, b.20th Century), 2007. Some small areas of oil paint highlights added to canvas print by the artist. The landscape features a calm mountain stream flowing past large boulders and yellow autumn trees, with tall majestic mountains in the background. Hand signed lower right "DR Britton" with the edition number 11/100. Signed and dated in the print "DR Britton '07", lower left. Displayed in a custom rustic style contemporary wood frame with linen liner and gold trim. Canvas size: 20"H x 16"W. Don Britton is a contemporary representational landscape painter of the western US with focus on the southwest, the Pacific coast and the Sierras. I received my first drawing instruction at the age of six from my father. We were living in New Mexico at the time and he was an avid amateur landscape painter there. Although I dabbled in painting off and on for years, my first career took a different path. Following a BA from the University of Colorado and a PhD from The Ohio State University I entered a career in neuroscience research. However, in 2004, I committed to painting full time and was almost immediately rewarded with the joy of recreating scenes I loved. James Bartholomew Atlantic Colours Limited Edition Print of 195 Image Size: H 53cm (21″) x W 79cm (31″) Signed by the artist Atlantic Colours is a limited edition giclee print by James Bartholomew. Bartholomew uses short and sharp brush strokes to portray the turbulent sea. James Bartholomew works on a comparatively large scale (typically 70cm x 50cm or bigger) which allows for a loose approach. – Much smaller and I find the process becomes a bit fiddly! I mostly work in pastel & watercolour together, the mediums soon becoming mixed up. The pastel will sometimes get wet and moved around within the paint, becoming simply a pigment. Other times it is used over the top of the dry paint. Through this method, the vibrancy can be reintroduced with the pastels and the painting can be changed at any stage. This leaves plenty of room to experiment on the surface without worrying about spoiling the painting, which I find quite liberating. I have also recently discovered a new love for painting in acrylic. I find the vibrancy and depth of the pigments particularly good for my marine subjects and the intense hues sometimes found when sun combines with sea water. I try to create paintings that are as uplifting and inspiring as the subjects are to me and to convey the energy and vibrancy that draw me to them. The things I paint are basically the things I love.
