About the Item
So much has been said by experts about the joyful spirit of many vintage advertising posters and this image for Old Manada Rum is a great example of the style. Created by an anonymous artist in the 1930’s we see a finely chiseled body on the Nubian figure in the center of the poster. The artist has contrasted this green colored figure so sharply against the deep burgundy background that the figure almost looks as if it is popping off the sheet of paper. The man in the figure is seen to be pouring the Old Manada Rum into a small glass and the overflow is running down the poster into the name of the product below. It is an eye catching image used to get the viewer’s attention.
