Izette Felthun

This sculptural form with its Cycladic curves, has something so still, and yet has movement; so very quiet and yet with a real vitality. It has the narrowest of openings giving limited access to a dark hidden interior. The black and white markings disrupt the polished surface creating an interesting contrast to the symmetry of the form. A mix of porcelain and raku clay covered in a porcelaneous slip. Patterned by hand with tape to resist glaze. Glazed with resist slip and raku glaze. Thereafter fired in gas kiln followed by post fire reduction.
