Victory - Athletic Young Man in Classical Pose, ( Female Sculptor )
By Evelyn Beatrice Longman
Located in Miami, FL
Evelyn Beatrice Longman was a trailblazing female artist getting major commissions at the very begining of the 20th century. Having lived in New York City, I used to walk by the life size version of this in Philip Johnson's ATT Building and it left me breathless every time. This classical bronze statue of a victorious and handsome young man is called "Victory...

Medusa and Andromeda
By Magdeburger Kunstwerkstatten Reps and Trinte
Located in West Hollywood, CA
Medusa and Andromeda, is a unique three dimensional terra cotta sculpture/vase, created by the German firm Magdeburger Kunstwerkstatten, Reps and Trinte, a studio that specialized in fine works in terra cotta. This monumental piece depicts the entire story of the Medusa, who holds Andromeda captive by chaining her to rocks in the ocean. You can see the chains at her wrists and ankles. Medusa charges the Leviathan (dragon) as guard over the captive Andromeda. Andromeda was rescued by her future husband Perseus who killed the dragon and saved his future bride. This is one of the most unique works of its kind that has been seen to date. It was probably a sculpture/vase designed and created for presentation at one of the yearly Salon exhibitions in Europe. We have consulted experts in European ceramics...

La Pensée
By Jean-Baptiste Germain
Located in New York, NY
This stunning sculpture was realized by the celebrated sculptor Jean-Baptiste Germain in France, circa 1900. Cast in bronze and presented on a custom channeled red Italian exotic marble onyx base (with a stunning natural grain offering garnet and sable hues), this dynamic and elegant piece presents a standing young lady. This realistically rendered female form appears to be floating atop a stylized cresting wave, her flowing dress (suggestive of the heavily textured fabrics painted by Goya) transforming seamlessly into the body of the wave. One foot rests upon a lip of the wave, while the other floats supernaturally. With one hand holding a fountain pen and book, and the other outstretched, she focuses her gaze intently on the horizon. Beautifully executed in bronze by one of Europe's preeminent classical sculptors, this piece is sure to delight discerning collectors as well as those with a penchant for exquisite objects. With its beautiful detailing and timeless form (referencing centuries of tradition in figurative sculpture), this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from traditional to contemporary. It retains its original plaque reading "La Pensée...
