Paul Rollon"Pola" Gauguin Prints and Multiples
Paul Rollon "Pola" Gauguin was the youngest of artist Paul Gauguin's five legitimate children. Pola Gauguin was born on December 6, 1883, in Paris. Gauguin studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1905 and from 1906–09 was an assistant to architects Hermann Baagøe Storck and Anton Rosen. He debuted as an artist at Blomqvist Kunsthandel and Kunstnerforbundet in Oslo in 1913 and exhibited in the Oslo Autumn Exhibition in 1914. Gauguin started his own art school in Oslo which he ran until 1924. He also worked as an author and critic for Dagbladet, Tidens Tegn, Verdens Gang and Ekstra Bladet. Among his books are biographies of Henrik Lund, Christian Krohg, Edvard Munch and Ludvig Karsten. He also wrote the book My Father, Paul Gauguin. Gauguin's works are held in the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Norway, National Gallery of Denmark, Nordenfjeldske Kunstindustrimuseum in Norway, Stenersen Museum in Oslo, Harvard Art Museums and at the Portland Museum of Art in Oregon. Gauguin died on July 2, 1961, in Copenhagen.
