Gae Aulenti Table Lamp ‘Poveglia’ in Murano Glass for Vistosi, Italy 1969
By Vistosi, Gae Aulenti
Located in Hellouw, NL
Gae Aulenti was a very versatile and talented architect who undoubtedly occupied an illustrious position in the history of design. An alumna of Politecnico di Milano, she has completed a series of prestigious projects during her long career spanning more than fifty years. For example, Aulenti was responsible for redesigning the Musée d'Orsay and creating a space for the Musée National d'Art Moderne in the Center Pompidou in Paris. In addition to these projects of an architectural nature, Aulenti has managed to leave a mark in the world of interior design with a multitude of furniture, lamps and objects. Many of these objects starred as backdrops in films and advertisements. Take, for example, the Locus Solus garden set in the 1969 classic La Piscine with Alain Delon, Romy Schneider and a young Jane Birkin. This will be an indelible memory for a design-loving audience.
Design
Aulenti made this table lamp called Poveglia for Vetreria Vistosi. An Italian manufacturer specializing in decorative lighting made of blown glass. The lamp consists of two separate parts. The round and transparent base, which is marked on the inside with a blue made-in-Italy label, has a notch. A yellow hood is attached to the base by a cold connection and shows a beautiful murrine drawing. This murrine technique is one of the most complicated and time-consuming techniques. The artist first coats a center rod with a variety of colorful glass liquids. This rod exhibits rainbow cross...

Elegant Dining- or Side Chair in Teak and Wicker, Italy 1970s
Located in Hellouw, NL
An extremely elegant and stylish look is what mainly characterizes this chair.
Design
The teak frame is made up of six parts that all contribute to the allure of this dining room chair. Pointed front legs continue to the backrest and consist of one whole. The beautiful mortise and tenon connection with the back legs takes place just above the height of the seat. The slender figure of the chair is amazingly sturdy due to the wooden cross stretcher that connects the two outer parts. These are also connected to each other by means of a mortise and tenon connection. As an extra reinforcement, the legs at the bottom are also reinforced with a black iron spindle...

Wingback Armchairs In Poplar And Mohair By Orlando Orlandi, Italy 1950's
By Orlando Orlandi
Located in Hellouw, NL
Not much is known about Milanese architect Orlando Orlandi except that he worked with Gio Ponti for a certain period of time. It has been suggested by various sources that this specific design is also a fruit of their collaboration, but this has not been confirmed. It may be assumed that the gentlemen shared their avant-garde formal language. Graceful, powerful and very architectonic. Imagine a décor from a Luca Guadagnino...

Sculptural Lounge Chair Model “Sess” by Nani Prina for Sormani, Italy 1960s
By Sormani, Nani Prina
Located in Hellouw, NL
The Italian designer and journalist Nani Prina (1938) is a versatile figure who has always been involved in design, architecture and publishing. From 1969 he headed the magazine Ville e Giardini, which still exists today. We can characterize him as a jack-of-all-trades who has completed numerous projects in the field of single-family architecture, public, private and industrial construction. But designing furniture for a variety of labels is also part of his impressive arsenal.DesignThis special and very groovy design was manufactured at the time by the Italian high-end furniture manufacturer Sormani, who did not shy away from very distinctive designs. This “Sess” is somewhere between a lounge chair and a chaise longue and it is possible to seat it in different ways. That is what the form also communicates. An ambiguity that is strongly present in both form and function. The sloping and challenging lines ultimately form the mysterious and initially indefinable character of this chair. A sculpture? Of course. But with its curved shapes and long curved lines, it also absolutely belongs in the space age style. The contours are reminiscent of an extraterrestrial landscape and at the same time we strongly perceive the notion of abstracted human forms that are intertwined with each other. This “Sess” chair...

Three-seater And Two-Seater Model 'Kali' By Michel Ducaroy For Ligne Roset
By Ligne Roset, Michel Ducaroy
Located in Hellouw, NL
Three-seater and two-seater model 'Kali' by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset. We know the illustrious designer and integral part of the French label Ligne Roset from the iconic and best-selling Togo line. But a period of five years before the release of this line, Ducaroy was already developing and releasing models consisting entirely of foam. This model called Kali is a fruit of that period and was designed and released in 1970.We are talking about a two-seater and a three-seater with a pleasant seating comfort. You can really sink into it in a splendid manner. It forces you, as it were, to lounge and to let a sense of relaxation take hold of you. The L-contoured sofas are marked by rounded shapes and a beautiful reupholstery in a shimmering wine red bouclé colorful give this design extra cachet. When we take a look at the seat, a traditional tufting technique is revealed that, in addition to pulling the fabric taut, also adds a beautiful pattern. The stitching on the left side of each sofa bears the Ligne Roset label and the bottom cloth is also original and fully covered with the Roset pattern mark.As indicated earlier, the reupholstery has been redone. With these two you will find yourself a rare Ligne Roset Kali...

Pierre Chapo 'R05' Dressing Table in Walnut, France 1960s
By Pierre Chapo
Located in Hellouw, NL
A very rare copy of the already lesser-known model R05 from the hand of Pierre Chapo. Almost all of his designs that have seen the light of day and have been completed in the Chapo workshop are made of solid elm. Different types of hardwood were used in the workshop to create prototypes. For this R05 dressing table, which has the title “coiffeuse a sept tiroirs” in the original catalog, a dark walnut wood has been used that has acquired a beautiful warm, golden patina over the years. The starting point of the basis of Chapo's designs is always based on the golden ratio and follows the strict principles of form, function, and material. With this R05 we see, among other things, the well-known dovetail joints and notches on the ends. Seven handle-less drawers of different sizes each show a beautiful color shade of walnut wood. Gold streaks alternate with dark blond lines. Precisely because the regular designs are made of elm, it is all the more special that a completely solid walnut has been used here. It even contributes to the adage of Chapo who, as Hugues Magen...

Biosca Dining Table With Geometric Patterns In Pine, Spain 1960s
By BIOSCA
Located in Hellouw, NL
Biosca dining table with geometric patterns in pine. The Biosca furniture, as we have already indicated, is shrouded in a haze of mystery. Where exactly does it come from, who made it and above all who is the inventor of these striking but very welcome altering appearances within the mid century design world? Questions to which no one really posesses the answer to.This table is also completely in the recognizable but special "Biosca" style. Two prominent legs are made of solid pine and are decorated on both sides with a geometric carving. This could be a reference to the strong Moorish influences in the south of the Iberian Peninsula where even more complex mosaics adorned the buildings.Incidentally, we see similar decorations in Spanish furniture and for instance doors from the seventeenth century. The wrought iron bars that reinforce the table in a crosswise manner can also be seen in tables from the above period. These are also attached to the outside of the legs with a beautiful rosette. This table initially communicates a robustness through the somewhat rough table...

Nerone & Patuzzi Zinc Headboard Panel, Italy, 1970s
By Nerone and Patuzzi
Located in Hellouw, NL
This Nerone & Patuzzi zinc head panel, produced in the seventies, stands as a remarkable example of artistic expression. Crafted by Nerone Cecciarelli and Giancarlo Patuzzi, masters of working with forms of zinc, this piece showcases a beautiful example of that. The zinc is skillfully treated with acid, resulting in an interplay of light across its surfaces, where smooth and shiny areas contrast with rough and dark textures.
The head panel's design features lines that meticulously trace furrows and define distinct surfaces, each possessing a stark and essential geometry. The deliberate arrangement of shapes creates a harmonious composition that captures the viewer's attention. The artist's technique produces a relief effect, adding depth and dimension to the forms on the panel.
Within this abstract artwork, one cannot help but notice echoes of avant-garde pioneers like Joan Miró and Picasso...

It's a table that knows how to hold its own, whether placed in a cozy living room or a spacious office lobby. Thanks to the porous nature of the beige travertine stone, the surface of the table boasts a beautiful, almost organic feel. It's a texture that invites you to run your fingers over it, to trace the lines and patterns that seem to tell a story of their own. The top of the table is supported by four cylindrical legs...
