Decorate an entry or a living room with this elegant buffet. Crafted in France circa 1970, and built of walnut, the cabinet stands on a thick plinth base. The piece features two arched paneled doors decorated with carved floral motifs in the corners, and flanked with small rectangular doors on both sides with decorative double hinges. Opening the side doors and center double doors of the cabinet, it reveals a light blue painted interior with two shelves for ultimate storage. The top with rounded corners is also built of walnut over two small frieze cutlery drawers dressed with iron pulls, and embellished with carved geometric decor. The narrow Louis XIV style buffet is in excellent condition and adorns a rich walnut patina. Versatile, it could also be used in a hallway, a bedroom, or converted into a vanity cabinet with the addition of a sink. During kings Louis XIV and Louis XV reigns (17th and 18th centuries), the "Buffet de Chasse" became popular in French hunting lodges...

The Classic sideboard exemplifies the Louis XV style with a heavy presence, dramatic lines and intricate floral and foliage carvings throughout. The cabinet stands on small cabriole legs ending with escargot feet, over a scalloped apron heavily decorated with a center urn filled with floral and leaf motifs. The cabinet features a pair of drawers across the front dressed with heavy forged iron handles and matching escutcheons (and two fake drawers at the end!), over hand carved laurel and oak branch decor. The cabinet has two arched doors with recessed panels and dressed with oversized iron hinges and large decorative openwork escutcheons (and two fake doors at either end!); the middle doors open to interior shelving for ultimate storage.
