Stilnovo was founded in Milan by Bruno Gatta, whose father, Dino, had previously worked alongside Camillo Olivetti - with whom he graduated in Turin - on the creation of CGS in Ivrea. The deed of foundation of the company dates back to June 1946. The original headquarters is at 18 Via Borgonuovo Stilnovo reached the peak of its success in the late 1950s and 1960s. During this period it collaborated with high-profile architects and designers on several projects The new headquarters of the Milan Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Via Meravigli, designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni the previous year, dates from 1958. In the board meeting room, up-and-down chandeliers designed by the Milanese architects for Stilnovo were used. Stilnovo collaborated with Melchiorre Bega on two occasions: in 1960 to furnish, with ceiling chandeliers designed in the early 1950s by Gaetano Scolari, the boardroom of the Sarom company in the new skyscraper later known as Torre Galfe and again in the same year to illuminate the new conference and projection room at the Milan Trade Fair. Ico Parisi was born in Palermo in 1916. He gained a diploma in construction and served his apprenticeship in Giuseppe Terragni's studio. In 1937 he carried out, for the magazine Quadrante, a photographic study of the Casa del Fascio that marked the entire research that Parisi conducted in "meditating on the legacies and contradictions of the enormous baggage of ideas and forms constituted by the experience of the masters".
His activity, marked by continuous experimentation, is an incessant quest in the fields of architecture, art and design. Between 1948 and 1950 he devoted himself to the study of furniture elements. In the field of design, crucial encounters with Munari and Fontana (1951) and Melotti profoundly marked his experience. In 1948 he founded the studio La ruota with his wife Luisa Aiani, a designer and designer, which ceased its activity in 1995.
In 1954 he was awarded the Gold Medal at the X Milan Triennale with the work Padiglione Soggiorno, with Silvio Longhi and Luigi Antonietti. In 1957 he presented at the exhibition Colori e forme della casa d'oggi the work Casa per vacanze, which was the result of a collaboration with Manlio Rho...

De Martino is a classical artist, known for the production of sculptures of small bronze busts, in particular (“scugnizzi”, fishermen, commoners) with realistic features.
He trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples under the guidance of Stanislao Nome, Gioacchino Toma, and Achille D ’Orsi, from whom he learned the ability to portray the most realistic details using them on very young subjects. Very young he moved to Paris where he performed small sculptural groups, exhibiting frequently at the "Paris Salon" where he won the prize of the Louvre Museum for the bronze work Le Pêcheur de criquets (The Fisher of locusts, Naples, private collection).
Returning to Naples, he returned to a socialist realism and produced sculptures depicting characteristic Neapolitan types, especially urchins, “street urchins”, little boys and young fishermen. From 1916-1931 he was master of the sculptor Angelo Frattini.
Later the dominant theme of his production was childhood, in particular thoughtful, sad, gaunt children were represented in his works, on whose faces the signs of abandonment and suffering emerged. De Martino became known with the nickname of “The sculptor of children”.
