Set of 6 Wine Glasses Koloman Moser Meyr's Neffe circa 1901 Pink Jugendstil

About the Item

Set of 6 wine glasses Meteor decoration pink Koloman Moser Meyr's Neffe ca. 1901 Austrian Jugendstil The “Meteor” decoration was used for entire sets as well as for individual glass objects. The glasses were produced by the Bohemian company Meyr’s Neffe in Adolf, Winterberg, which was one of the most important glass producers in the period around 1900 and supplied many traditional Viennese companies. The six wine glasses bear the characteristic feature of the “Meteor” decoration with its optically blown and rolled glass. The organic shape of the goblet is repeated in the stem. Inside the calyx-shaped glass, knobs were placed to give the object a particular shine. The glasses are extremely finely crafted and blown from one piece. Together with the delicate pink gradient, they convey a feeling of lightness. Koloman Moser was one of the most important members of the Vienna Secession. In 1899, Koloman Moser was also appointed professor at the Wiener Kunstgewerbeschule (Vienna School of Applied Arts) to teach decorative drawing and painting. During this time, Moser designed some of his most important pieces. He also founded the Wiener Werkstätte in 1903, together with Josef Hoffmann and the industrialist Fritz Waerndorfer.
