About the Item

Rare 1970s André Courrèges turquoise maxi dress complete with low back and bow strap detail. Courreges was already a fashion design superstar when his haute couture version of this dress was photographed in French Vogue, September 1971. Sharp A-line tailoring and clean lines are synonymous with the designer who had worked for Balenciaga during the previous decade. The dress features a high square neck, fitted bodice and long A-line maxi skirt which streamlines and elongates the body. The front has two seam details to the hip, and the back features a low scoop with four rows of delicate straps running horizontally across. The material is crafted from a soft polyblend which has a gentle stretch to it, and it fastens to the side with the original concealed zip. The lining is an equally soft nylon blend, which, though not noticeable when worn, has a very slight pink tinge to it which has happened with age. Otherwise, the dress is in great vintage condition, with only a couple of very faint pinhead marks near the bottom hem. One for the connoisseur or collector of fine vintage fashion with the bonus of it being very wearable. Our model, a UK size 8-10, US 4-6, said she felt fantastic wearing this and it was a good fit. MEASUREMENTS Bust - 34 in. (86.4 cm) Waist - 33 in. (83.8 cm) Hip - 38 in. (96.5 cm) Shoulders - 15.5 in. (39.4 cm)

1960s Tony Armstrong Raw Silk Turquoise Dress
Located in London, GB
This 1960s Tony Armstrong evening dress is cut in a classic and flattering column silhouette with a high rounded neckline and short, slightly capped sleeves. The front is very lightly embroidered with fine blue thread in a criss-cross pattern. This continues round to the back of the dress, where a concealed original metal zipper ensures a smooth and seamless fit. A pair of right and left darts to the front and back emphasises the waist. The fabric is a very fine quality peacock blue raw silk with a satin sheen to it whilst it is fully lined in a lilac coloured acetate. A best fit for around a UK 8-10 or US 4-6. Superb vintage condition and looks barely worn, we noted only a small area of discoloration to the lining near both the sleeve underarms but this is totally unseen when worn. Tony Armstrong was a British couture...
