2005 Oscar De la Renta Runway Crystal Beaded Silk Dress

About the Item

In the review for Oscar De La Renta’s Fall 2005 collection, Vogue described the label as “always elegant and invariably luxe”. Look 52 of 66 from the runway presentation, this graceful, bias-cut gown is tailored from rich mocha silk and is a floor-sweeping length. Signature elaborate embellishments adorn the bust and continue around the back, detailed with botanical shapes created from rhinestones and silver beadwork. The pretty, wide sleeves are crafted from coordinating mocha silk. Oscar De La Renta’s ability to flatter the feminine silhouette is seen in the internal corsetry. Trimmed with grosgrain ribbon, there is an internal zip that holds this corset in place and a silk-covered weight hangs from the inside of the bust, ensuring the neckline sits on the décolletage as the designer intended. With the original Oscar De La Renta tags still attached to the label, this stunning gown is a show-stopping addition to any event wardrobe and is in excellent unworn vintage condition. Labelled a US 8, this equates to a UK 12 and was sold in Bergdorf Goodman for $7800 + taxes. MEASUREMENTS : Bust - 34 in. (86 cm) Waist - 30 in. (76 cm) Hip - 38 in. (97 cm) Length- 62.5 in. (159 cm)
