About the Item

A sideboard with a strong presence, made with generous amounts of chestnut wood. The main frame is made with a sophisticated joint called kendome. The chamfered design of the vertical and horizontal frames is perfectly aligned and connected without interruption, which is the result of meticulous craftsmanship that has been calculated down to the smallest detail. This kendome is not only beautiful to look at, but also has the meaning of regulating the flow of energy in the space by assembling the pieces without showing the ends of the wood, based on the ancient idea that "evil spirits enter through the ends of the wood." The front panels of the drawers are made of antique chestnut wood that has deepened over time. The rich expressions created by nature, such as the grain, knots, and shrinkage grain, are utilized as they are. The combination with the brass half-moon handle creates a somewhat nostalgic impression. The top is made of a single piece of keyaki wood. The sawing marks are intentionally left to express the strength and rustic charm of the wood itself. While carefully polished, some space has been left unfinished, creating a harmonious balance between the opposing beauties of elegance and ruggedness. Combining practicality with beautiful form, it is a piece that will become the centerpiece of any space. Our craftsmen have carefully repaired it and brought it back to life as furniture to be passed on to future generations. *This antique is in good condition, but there are small scratches and slight distortions that are not shown in the detailed images. weight:50kg - About Us - Based in Japan, we reinterpret high-quality Japanese furniture from the Taisho period, a fusion of Western culture and Japanese craftsmanship, and upcycle it into "modern Japanese furniture." Each piece is carefully repaired by a skilled craftsman, and reborn as furniture to be passed down to the next generation. We deliver beautiful and functional Japanese furniture that will be loved for generations to come.
