The cream-colored body is decorated with gilded accents and painted scenes of figures set against natural backdrops. It is perforated to allow smoke to flow. The underside bears identifying seals. Accompanying is a dark, lacquered wood table with abstract geometric patterns and plant motifs carved into its four curved, volute-shaped legs and circular base. The table has been artfully constructed and varnished to showcase the flowing designs. Japanese Satsuma ceramics hold historical and cultural importance, symbolizing the artistic achievements of the Edo period. These pieces exemplify craftsmanship and intricate design, serving as enduring reflections of Japan's rich artistic heritage.

A fine and elegant Japanese Satsuma tripod incense burner, koro, with pierced metal lid, signed Eizan (?) Meiji Period, late 19th century, Japan.
