About the Item

A fine antique Chinese export porcelain gravy boat. In the Nanking pattern. Decorated in underglaze blue. With a trellis-diaper border to the interior rim surrounded with spearheads and dumb-bells. The footrim alternates between a trellis pattern and floral devices. The spout ends of the body are both decorated with Chinese village scenes. Simply a wonderful example of Nanking porcelain! Date: Early 19th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There is some fritting/small chips around the circumference of the rim, a firing flaw on one handle that appears as a crack, another firing flaw to the inside of the foot, glaze flakes to the other handle, and some orange-brown bleed in the glaze from the firing. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Marks: Unmarked Measurements: Height: ca. 3 1/2 in. Width: ca. 7 3/4 in.
