This finely hand-painted ginger jar dates to the Qing Dynasty, circa 1850, and features a classic blue and white porcelain design. The surface is richly decorated with intricate floral scrolls surrounding large stylized Shou (壽) characters, symbolizing longevity and good fortune. These characters alternate with peony blossoms, revered in Chinese culture as emblems of prosperity and nobility.
The glaze exhibits a soft bluish tint typical of 19th-century Chinese porcelain, and the cobalt blue decoration is deeply saturated, with slight bleeding that adds to its antique charm. The original lid with matching motifs is included, and the base shows typical age-related pitting and minor kiln marks consistent with the period.
