About the Item

This is a Chinese Export porcelain bowl, hand painted in a blue and white pattern, which we date to the 18th Century or earlier, back to late Ming dynasty in the early 17th century. The bowl is fairly thickly potted with a fairly high, slightly undercut foot and a ridged rim. The glaze is fairly thick and a soft grey/light blue in colour The bowl is hand decorated all around the outside, in varying shades of under-glaze cobalt blue with various symbols and motifs in a quick, sketchy manner, as per the general Ming style. The pattern is repeated in three sections around the outside of the bowl. The outer foot has two circles in cobalt blue with the lower one being very finely painted. Overall a nice Chinese Export bowl in good condition.
